Canton Wear Master Profile:

muffler-repair-canton-plymouth

In an era of mega corporations, national chains, and billion-dollar advertising campaigns, the days of the family business seem to have passed us by. Canton Wear Master is certainly a rare exception to the rule. Owned by brothers-in-law Ron Amann and Bob Baker, Canton Wear Master is a true family-owned and operated business. Sons, daughters, nephews, nieces and wives stop by frequently to lend a hand, or make the occasional parts run.

Canton Wear Master, specializing in brakes, mufflers, shocks, macpherson struts, opened for business in July of 2006 in the Canton Auto Service Center. Located on the corner of Joy and Old Lilly, the center also houses oil change, detailing, and car wash facilities. While the Baker and Amann families had considered other locations, The Canton Auto Service Center provided an opportunity to open a business that was close to home. Since then, the business has moved to a more convenient location on Ann Arbor RD and Main ST (next to Wendy's).

Canton Wear Master seeks to cater to the Plymouth-Canton community, providing quality car care with a customer-first attitude and the integrity of a family-owned and operated business. They understand that earning the customer’s trust leads to a positive reputation, and they treat their patrons accordingly. In a time where many companies have driven customers to be constantly suspicious, Canton Wear Master is truly a breath of fresh air.

In the Community...

At Canton Wear Master, we not only work in our community, we work for it too. Both Ron and Bob grew up in the area, and their families remain active in the community. Bethany Amann, daughter of Ron, is a member of the Detroit Ignition Dance team that performs at home games of the new professional indoor soccer team based out of Compuware Sports Arena in Plymouth. She and her sister Ashley also teach at Central City Dance, where Ron’s wife of 25 years, Carolyn, volunteers. Ron chips in as well, serving as the Stage Manager for the annual productions at the Cherry Hill Village Theater as well as their Christmas Spectacular.

Bob and his wife Dawn, who will be celebrating 27 years of marriage in 2009, have raised a family that is also active in the Plymouth-Canton community. His oldest son Evan coaches a team in the Plymouth Soccer Club, where his youngest son Collan plays as well. All four Baker sons attended Canton High School and are alumni of the Canton Soccer Club, where Bob has served on the Board of Directors and Canton Cup Tournament Committee. Both families are also actively involved in their respective church congregations; Ron as his family attending services at Crosspoint Church over in Wayne, Michigan on Glenwood, while Bob and the Bakers attend services at Calvary Baptist that's actually right down the street from the shop.
